Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Installs, maintains, and tests telecommunications systems, equipment, and associated hardware, pathway systems, and cable management systems, including open wire systems, surface nonmetallic raceways, underground raceways, circular or surface metal raceways, audio/paging systems, closed circuit video monitoring systems, and satellite and conventional antenna systems
• Installs telecommunications equipment, fire protection signaling systems, intrusion alarms, energy management and control systems, industrial and automation control systems, lighting control systems, public address systems, and such similar low-energy circuits and equipment
• Removes line voltage connections of up to 120 volts/20 amps and reconnect to like-kind or other authorized replacements
• Repair and replace line voltage connections terminated inside a control cabinet to low voltage equipment power supplies
• Tests systems to ensure equipment is working properly
• Reads technical manuals and brochures to determine equipment which meets establishment requirements
• Visits vendors to learn about available products, enhancements, or services
• Performs work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience: High School diploma or GED and one year of telecommunications experience.

Certificates and Licenses: Must have a valid driver’s license or electrical trainee card. Current Journeyman Electrical 06 license is a plus.

Computer Skills: Computer proficiency, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Accurate typing, 10-key, and data entry skills.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, work instructions, software manuals; ability to write routine business reports and verbally communicate in a professional manner.

Math Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Must be able to regularly climb and carry adders up to 28 feet tall. Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs. The position requires ability to walk, stand, climb, and balance frequently. Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.

To perform the job, the employee is frequently required to talk and hear on the telephone and in person with individuals and groups. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus to produce or review reports. This position requires the ability to read and respond to documents in hard copy and electronic form.

The work is typically performed in a variety of environments, including outdoor and indoor spaces. The employee will frequently be exposed outdoor weather conditions and required to work in high, precarious places. Approximately 5% of work time is spent traveling to local job sites in a company vehicle.
