Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Physics, August 2023

Job Responsibilities
Positions: The Department of Physics at Truman State University, a top-ranked public liberal arts and sciences university, has one full-time, tenure track appointment beginning August 2023. The Department is seeking an experimental physicist. Ideal candidates will be able to teach both introductory and advanced courses in physics, including labs, and provide high-quality research experiences for undergraduates. Prior experience teaching electronics or advanced physics lab classes is a plus.
Responsibilities: Teaching a range of introductory and advanced undergraduate physics courses; conducting research and scholarship involving undergraduate students (startup funds are available); academic advising of physics majors; service to the department, school, and university.

Program: The Department of Physics is part of the School of Science and Mathematics at Truman State University. The department has 6 faculty members and approximately 40 undergraduate majors. Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Ph.D. in experimental physics or related field. (ABD candidates will be considered with an expected Ph.D. completion prior to the start of the next contract date in August 2024.)
Candidates will be evaluated on the ability to teach a wide range of courses in Truman’s undergraduate physics curriculum; evidence of teaching effectiveness; academic qualifications; a record of research in experimental physics or related fields; Potential to involve undergraduates in research program; experience and/or commitment to serving a diverse population of students, including students underrepresented in physics and astronomy; prior experience and/or commitment to teaching at a primarily undergraduate, liberal arts institution; effective communication skills; and compatibility with departmental needs.

Salary
Starting annual salary is $56,500.
