Herrington's is currently seeking a full time Tile Sales/Purchaser for our Tile Center located in Hillsdale, NY.

Summary: Supports Tile Sales staff customer service through coordination of receiving process with accurate verification and recordkeeping on incoming & outgoing shipments & prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Fields phone calls from customers to confirm arrival of their orders.

· Answer Tile phone call overflow and assist customer for tile staff or take message for tile staff if necessary.

· Compares identifying information & counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming & outgoing shipments to verify against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other.

· Determines best method of shipment and prepares packaging meeting shipping specifications.

· Processes all deliveries in a timely manner on the day of delivery. Routes items to purchaser. Completes receiving documentation.

· Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.

· Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.

· Provides direct customer service with counter sales and stocking functions as needed.

· Maintains upkeep & organization of receiving work and storage areas to include placing received items in proper storge, labeling as necessary for quick identification, and maintaining safety requirements of such.

· Contact Tile Manager to inform of receipt of Special-Order item for pickup.

· Pull and stage store items for transfers and delivery to customers.

· Safely operates lift/hand truck to move items from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.

· Performs load checks prior to deliveries being released to drivers.

· Works with Inventory Specialists on cycle count process and maintenance of Yard count calendar.

· Completes daily safety inspection checklists on equipment assigned to them.

· Documents store transfers. Verifies quantities shipped & received, processes & updates transfer documents in the same manner as vendor receipts.

· Maintains primary inventory and back stock of all materials in the assigned area of responsibility.

· Provides outstanding customer service at all internal and external customer contact points.

· Participates in all required training assignments.

· Displays teamwork and effort in performance of all duties.

Supports the goals and objectives of Ed Herrington Inc through adherence to company policies, safety guidelines and work requirements for successful completion of all assignments.

Education/Experience

High School Diploma/GED required. Minimum of three to six months related experience preferred.

Language Skills

Clear communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to greet and communicate with customers in a manner that reflects customer service objectives of Ed Herrington, Inc.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists resulting in a reasonable and accurate conclusion that can be well communicated. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Detail oriented individual with excellent follow through and communication skills. The strong ability to multi-task. Is resourceful and able to successfully navigate through complex situations. Ability to interact with all staff levels through to and including senior management.

Proficient in ECS Pro: sales, SKU lookup, creating orders/special orders, quotes, keeping minimum open orders.

Forklift training and demonstrated continuing forklift operation competency required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
