Quality Manager

Facility: Trenton Plants, Run Flat/Tire Division

General Description
The Quality Manager position is a hands-on position where the Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest possible quality of all products manufactured by the Run Flat/Tire Division. The position requires monitoring all facets of the production process including, but not limited to, raw material certifications, in-process quality controls, work instructions and related training, and final inspections and/or certifications as required by the customer.

Specific Duties
  • Monitor workplace operations for compliance with all environmental, health and safety rules and procedures and immediately respond to any non-conformances.
  • Perform risk assessments and consult with workers on environmental, health and safety issues.
  • Ensure the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of the processes needed for the quality management system;
  • Report to top management on the performance of the quality management system including needs for improvement; and
  • Ensure the promotion of awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization.
  • Inspect all incoming raw materials to ensure their integrity and that all material specifications have been met.
  • Post work instructions at all workstations and follow-up to make sure that adequate training has been conducted for each employee tasked with a specific responsibility.
  • Monitor all quality control inspections throughout the production process to ensure that the company complies with its internal quality standards.
  • Ensure that all quality measuring devices are regularly calibrated per our internal standard.
  • Keep files of all production jobs and the raw materials records and quality control reports related to each job.
  • Issue the final inspection report and/or sign-off for each job completed in the shop. The position holds final authority to detain or release any completed job for shipment.
  • Communicate all quality issues to management promptly, along with recommendations for any corrective actions that may be necessary.
  • Manage supplier and customer complaints.
  • Take responsibility for the timely return of all raw materials found to be defective, together with the disposal of all goods rejected that are not repairable.
  • Maintain QC personnel files and manage attendance records.
  • Travel as required.

Qualifications
  • Two-year degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Three plus years of experience working in a quality management system, following and enforcing compliance as a QA Manager or Supervisor.
  • Experience in ISO-9001-2015 QMS
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Customer oriented.
  • ASQ Certifications in Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence, Quality Inspector, Quality Auditor, Six Sigma, preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
The employee frequently is required to sit; walk, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, for viewing a computer terminal distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception vision for driving and ability to adjust focus.

  • Safety Glasses conforming to ANSI Z87.1 or higher
  • Steel Toe Safety Shoes conforming to OSHA General Industry Standards 29 CFR 1910
  • Hearing protection conforming to OSHA General Industry Standards 29 CFR 1910
