TOWN OF MANCHESTER MAINE
TOWN CLERK/SELECT BOARD SECRETARY
The Town of Manchester is seeking a dynamic individual to join our office team. This position involves public interaction and management of the day-to-day operations of the Clerk’s office.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Registration of motor vehicles, trailers, campers, ATV’s and snowmobiles
- Issuing hunting and fishing licenses and dog licensing
- Preparation of various weekly and monthly reports
- Assist in answering the phones
- Daily cash ups
- Weekly motor vehicle report
- Issuance of vital records (birth, death and marriage)
- Running elections and maintaining voter registrations
- Organize and open the annual Town Meeting
- Attendance at two evening Select Board meetings to take minutes and transcribe is required
- Preparation of the annual Town report
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an administrative support role
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and problem solve in a fast-paced environment
- Strong business ethics required (appearance, punctuality, dependability, professionalism), while at the same time the ability to be personable with all types of customers and co-workers.
- Self-motivated and the ability to work on your own; personally motivated for growth
- Prior cash handling experience and the ability to use an adding machine
- Familiarity with basic accounting principles is helpful
- The ability to pass a background check

- Great hours: Work begins at 7:45am Monday – Friday. The office closes at 4pm on Monday and Thursday, 6pm Tuesday (except Board Meeting nights), noon on Wednesday and 2pm on Friday.
