Job Overview:
As a Talent Development Manager, you partner with Talent and Operations leaders to anticipate and meet the ever-changing training and development needs of Cortland. You contribute to our culture and business strategy through support of Talent and Operations initiatives and enable high performance and associate growth through the design and implementation of talent development practices, experiences, and programs.
Roles You Will Play:

The Educator


  • Provide high-engaging learning experiences that align with Cortland’s culture
  • Deliver high-quality training across multiple channels to engage audiences and promote positive performance behaviors
  • Lead the Peer Coaching Program for your market and coach the Peer Coaches on new enhancements and development opportunities
  • Work with Operations Leaders and on site teams to help coach associates past the classroom. Work with different associates and demonstrate a coaching mindset
  • Be the liaison between Talent and other departments to promote communication and reduce silos
  • Work closely with our Instructional Design team on building out content as a Subject-Matter Expert and design assistant.
  • Manage the course completions in your market and promote course completions.


The People Person


  • Ensure associates are well-versed in Cortland’s Standards of Excellence in addition to sales, customer experience, and software applications used in an assigned region
  • Collaborate with teams to maintain organizational communications associated with training


The Talent Ambassador


  • Work closely with Talent and Operational Leaders to assess training needs and assist with developing new training for Cortland associates in the market
  • Participate in special projects supporting a wide range of initiatives
  • Be the culture leader, live fully to our values, and promote the values to others

Building Blocks of Success:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, human resources, related major, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Stellar 3+ years of experience in learning and development with a demonstrated history of delivering training content and creating a highly engaging learning platform; experience in the multifamily industry preferred
  • Stellar 3+ years of experience in Multifamily working with prospects, residents, and vendors is preferred
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • 50% travel within assigned region with potential additional travel outside of assigned region for total for a potential of 75% travel in a month.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to facilitate in small and large groups being in-person or Virtual
  • Working knowledge of applications software (Funnel, OneSite Leasing and Rents, OneSite Accounting, UltiPro, Lever, DOMO, Notifii, and more) is preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with associates and stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Spanish fluency preferred
