Job description
This position is considered a Safety-Sensitive position. Applicants who pass the interview process will be subject to drug and alcohol testing.
The purpose of this class within the organization is to manage the daily operations of the Public Transportation function within the City.

Directly supervises the system daily operations including transportation service, Fleet maintenance coordination, customer service, and Department personnel.

Assists in the development and implementation of system programs, budgets, objectives, and procedures.

Coordinates routine and preventative maintenance and repairs for the bus fleet.

Reviews and resolves customer complaints; investigates incidents by speaking with drivers, office staff, Operations Supervisor, and viewing security video and AVL records.

Monitors reports tracking daily, weekly, monthly and annual ridership and revenue figures.

Provides recommendations to shape the transit service to meet the local needs of customers and potential customers within the authorized resources.

Recommends commencement, improvement, modification, or elimination of transit service to maintain the cost effective and efficient operation of the Public Transportation System.

Performs other work as assigned.

Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, transportation management, or closely related field preferred but not required.
- Requires four (4) years of progressively responsible work experience in public transit management or closely related experience.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.

The City’s contribution match amount is exactly 3%. You do not pay taxes on the money in your account until you withdraw it.
- 457 Plan - Optional: A voluntary 457 retirement plan through Mission Square is available for employees who want to contribute an additional amount to a nonqualified, tax advantaged deferred-compensation plan. The 457 Plan is designed to help you meet your retirement goals. The maximum annual contribution in the 457 Plan cannot exceed the IRS maximum, including the City’s contributions. - You are always vested (fully own) 100% for all contributions you make.
- Your ownership of employer contributions is based on a vesting schedule. Employees hired after July 1, 2010, are 100% vested in the Mission Square Retirement Plans after 5 years of completed service, based upon hire date. Employees hired prior to July 1, 2010, are vested either 5 years from hire date, or 5 years from their plan entry date, which could be the first of the month following, or coinciding with, 90 days from their hire date.
- For Police Officers and Firefighters, “Normal Retirement Age” is on the employee’s 55th birthday
- Employees at least 55 years of age, and on the date of completing thirty (30) years of full-time employment
