Trinity Metro has an immediate opening for an Operations Manager. The incumbent in this position will ensure fixed-route bus services provided by Trinity Metro maintains the highest standards of safety, customer satisfaction, efficiency, and overall excellence in service delivery. The incumbent supervises and coordinates transit activities and operations including management of staff to ensure work quality and adherence to established federal, state and local safety policies and procedures. The incumbent in this class performs under the general supervision of the Director of Operations.
This position’s responsibilities include:
- Under the direction of the Operations Director, manages the day-to-day operations of the Trinity Metro’s fixed-route bus services in order to provide a safe, efficient, and accessible transportation system.
- Effectively manages on-time performance and driver availability.
- Effectively and frequently, communicate with staff and support team members.
- Oversees and manages through direct reports the daily operations of the fixed-route bus services
- Maintains all service standards and general performance standards for the fixed-route bus system
- Monitors data of ongoing ridership, fare collection, and key indicators to identify, evaluate, and improve performance. Creates reporting and analysis to improve overall operations
- Ensures operations of the fixed-route bus service system are consistent with adopted policies, governmental regulations, and the transit interests of the public
- Responsible for staff selection, duty assignments, performance evaluations, and discipline.
- Responsible for hiring, training, managing and development of operations personnel.
- Maintains an effective working relationship and communication with the General Manager, Operations Director, peers and subordinates.
- Effectively and accurately respond to union grievances, assist in arbitration, and interpret the union contract, where applicable.
- Maintain effective working relationship and open communication with the Maintenance department to ensure asset and equipment reliability.
- Formulates and maintains the (System Security and Emergency Preparedness Plan) SSEPP.
- Respond to the activation of the Tarrant County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) by coordinating the transportation of emergency personnel, resources, equipment and supplies; coordinate Tarrant County’s Disaster Route Priority Plan.
- Assisting with managing annual budget and other financial documents. Determines and recommends operational and capital expenditures as well as implements and administers the approved budget. Develops long-range plans and programs for the fixed-route bus division.
- Maintains confidential information.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
- Makes recommendations to management to improve operations, decrease inefficiencies and streamline work processes; work cooperatively with all customers, internal and external.
- Participates in company community activities to promote transit on off duty hours.
- Directly supervises one or more employees.
- Applies supervisory responsibilities according to organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Interviews, hires and trains employees; plans, and directs work; sets goals for the department; evaluates and manages employee performance; addresses complaints and resolves employee issues.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
SCHEDULE
Monday through Friday, 2pm - 10pm with flexibility.
EXPERIENCE
Four years of progressively responsible experience in the transit industry, preferably including bus operations, dispatching, scheduling, etc. as a leadsperson, supervisor, and administrator.
Must a be valid CDL holder with passenger endorsement or ability to obtain within (3) three months of employment.
EDUCATION
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Public Administration, Urban Studies, Transit Management, or a closely related field.
Any combination of experience, training and/or education that provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills may substitute for the required education.
