STATE PROFILE SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, provides senior level professional support in environmental services. May also serve in a lead role.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will focus on actively monitoring the schedules of environmental activities for all projects in the current STIP and alerting management in advance such that schedule recovery remains possible.
There are between six and 12 major environmental deliverables for each project, and these positions will be critical to ensure on time delivery for all projects.
Additional duties include:
- Composing and preparing written information/materials
- Make Assignments in P6
- Gather and analyze data related to overall project delays
- Completes metric percentages/required to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Develop new methods and procedures
- Provide Quality Customer Service
- Communicate ideas and facts to individuals and groups
- Adapt quickly to change including new policies and procedures
- Manage time appropriately, dealing effectively with multiple priorities
- Work effectively with others to find mutually acceptable solutions
- Commitment toward work and a high standard of ethical conduct
- Train new staff on GDOT applications and procedures.
- Utilize GDOT 411 and Excel to generate reports for management and other office use.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Qualifications
STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND Two years of related experience
- OR One year of experience at the lower level (RCP142) or position equivalent.
AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years of experience composing and preparing written information/materials including technical reports that communicate facts, ideas, and messages in a succinct and organized manner.
- One year of experience working in a position that had to coordinate with professionals in multiple offices/departments.
- One year of experience working with P6, GA 411, and Excel or Access
- One year of experience working in a team setting making meaningful contributions/decisions.
- Experience training, directing, motivating, and evaluating the work of staff; and in effectively planning work goals and objectives.
- Experience applying transportation engineering or planning principles, policies, or practices at a professional level as part of the planning, preconstruction, construction, or operation of transportation projects.
- Possesses advanced knowledge of Construction Work Program and project scheduling priorities/guidelines related to the preconstruction phases of a project.
- Experience utilizing the following software: T-Pro, Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, Microsoft Project and PowerPoint.
- Ability to interpret project schedules and how they relate to the plan development process.
- Experience locating and recognizing pertinent information on maps and bar graphs.
- Displays a professional image.
- Ability to apply innovative solutions in solving problems.
- Possesses strong written and oral communication skills.
- Communicates ideas and facts to individuals or groups effectively.

AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years of experience in interpreting GDOT’s environmental process, project schedules and P6
- One year of experience working directly with the Primavera P6 and/or Primavera P6 Team Member software
- One year of experience working with professionals in areas of NEPA/GEPA, Ecology, History, Archaeology, Air and Noise.
- Possesses advanced level knowledge of the plan development process and how project
- schedules relate.
- Experience in directing, monitoring, and evaluating project resource needs.
- Strong planning skills to identify group/unit objectives and develop sound strategies to achieve them.
- Experience in coordinating with designers, environmental specialists, and officials from other agencies and offices to ensure environmental compliance.
- Knowledge of the sequencing of work activities needed to advance a project through the environmental process and the project development process.
- Knowledge of the organizational structure and functions of the department and basic departmental policies and rules.

In accordance with the Interview and Selection Process (ISP), an applicant must have no active disciplinary actions to be in good employment standing. Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion). In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation. Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors. Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
