JOB SUMMARY: The role of the study hall proctor is to provide supervision, support,
and care for boarding students in proctored study hall. They act as an adult presence,
liaison between the dorm parent on duty and the students present each evening.
While on duty in study hall, the proctor will answer general questions, maintain
decorum and promote a calm atmosphere so that students may perform to the best
of their abilities. Study hall takes place in the upstairs classrooms of the Drinkward
Center and runs from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
evenings.
This is a part-time, seasonal, exempt position that will require approximately 8 hours
per week from September through June. It reports directly to the director of
residential life.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Arrive by 6:45 p.m. and prepare to open classroom doors, turn on lights, and
- Take roll of students present.
- Inform the Dorm Parent on Duty of any missing students.
- Confirm that phones have been placed in the phone “parking lots” at the front
- Confirm that students have written their study hall task list on the whiteboard.
- Complete rounds throughout the evening to ensure students are focused, on
- Check in with students regarding their progress of their study hall to-do list.
- Communicate any updates, sick students, or behavioral concerns to the Dorm
- Reset classrooms for the next morning’s classes (push in chairs, trash, erase
- Close up classrooms (turn off lights, close doors, etc).
- Depart at 9:15 p.m.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and experience sufficient to coach or learn the skills necessary to
- Basic digital literacy, proficiency Gmail, and other tools needed to take roll and
communicate with team. Other web based and miscellaneous applications as
appropriate
- Intercultural competency, ability to interact appropriately with individuals of all
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
- Documentation of Covid-19 vaccination or medical or religious exemption
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Interpersonal skills, ability to maintain positive relationships with students,
- Ability to consistently apply principles of equity, inclusion and anti-racism in day
to day duties and in the larger Residential Life and OES community.
- Mobility sufficient to move about the campus including the dorms
- Ability to see, hear, and speak as to communicate clearly with students and
coworkers
COMPENSATION: $23 to $25 per hour depending on experience
