Morrison Express is looking for a Manager of Legal and Risk Management to join our Management team in the America’s.


Location: 2000 S Hughes Way, El Segundo, CA 90245

Schedule: This is a Full-Time, Exempt position working in office 5 days per week.

Compensation: $100k-$160k DOE


As the Manager of Legal and Risk Management, you will serve as the first point of contact for all legal queries and matters for Morrison Express in the Americas. You will collaborate with the legal team in Taipei, America’s management team, and others to draft, review, and negotiate complex legal contracts. You will assist HR and the America’s management team in the review of company policies and employment matters, recognizing and managing internal risk, and defining and recommending legal strategies and objectives designed to mitigate MEC’s legal exposure. You will provide guidance on compliance and sanction issues, conduct internal assessments, and provide in house trainings related to compliance and risk management issues. You will offer legal advice on claims and provide guidance to the claims manager formulating effective correction and prevention plans.

What You Will Be Doing in Your Day to Day

  • Drafting and review contracts, company policies on legal, compliance and risk management related matters.
  • Provide legal opinion and attend to contentious matters.
  • Offer legal advice on claim, compliance and sanction issues, work with relevant departments in formulating effective correction/prevention plans.
  • Archive legal documentation.
  • Work with external counsel on designated matters.
  • Conduct internal compliance assessment on assigned regulatory compliance and risk management topics related to freight forwarding and logistics industry.
  • Provide in-house training to employees on regulatory compliance and risk management issues and assist with development of training materials.

What We Look for in Our Teammates

  • Law degree from a reputable US university, US or Foreign bar qualification preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience as an attorney with experience drafting and reviewing complex legal contracts.
  • Prior experience working for a Freight Forwarder, Logistics, or Transportation organization preferred.
  • Analytical and critical thinking, self-disciplined and able to complete assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication skills and able work with other functions as well as foreign affiliates.
  • Experience in document management.
