Element Medical Billing is a premier 3rd party substance abuse billing company looking for a dedicated individual to join our Utilization Review team. We are looking for UR specialists that have experience in all levels of care per ASAM criteria.

Job Functions / Requirements:

- Extensive Knowledge of admissions, precertification, concurrent reviews, peer to peers and discharge reviews. Ability to perform all of these functions.

- Extensive Knowledge on behavioral health

- Extensive clinical knowledge

- Exceptional communication skills. Ability to communicate with our billing/collections team as well as the facilities clinicians regarding UR issues and updates.

- Keeping clinicians aware of concurrent review dates, documentation required for these dates and any information needed in order to perform an effective review.

- General knowledge of CPT codes and coding

- Ability to navigate and use EMR systems such as KIPU

- Ability to assist clinicians with documentation recommendations pertinent to longer length of stays

- Possession of clinical knowledge relevant to ASAM guidelines as well as specific payor guidelines required for certs

- Perform certs in a timely manner with the possibility of 24/7 availability specifically for detox precert on weekends. (rarely happens)

- Knowledge of HIPAA and protecting patient data.
