EF Education First is looking for a UX Writer to join our growing UX team supporting our B2C travel brands, Go Ahead Tours and Ultimate Break. Please include a link to your portfolio with your application.

Who you are:

You are a communication nerd who understands how to convey the right information at the right time. You know that it’s not only about what we say, but how we say it. You can distill complex information into language that’s approachable, inclusive, and easy to understand. You own your ideas and run with them. When you’re stuck, you believe there’s a creative way around almost any obstacle. You (almost) never miss a detail—precision is your middle name. And yet at the end of the day, you haven’t lost your sense of humor. You love what you do and want to collaborate with a diverse team. You crave the opportunity and growth of a large company but the flexibility and camaraderie of a small one.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Use your empathy and writing skills to help users achieve their goals across our digital ecosystem.
  • Work side-by-side with a cross-functional team of UI/UX Designers and Writers, Product Managers, Engineers, Analysts, and business stakeholders to build and optimize our digital experiences:
    • Understand the customer journey and advocate for an exceptional user experience that solves real business problems.
    • Plan and write concise, meaningful copy and microcopy that empowers users through clean flows, clear actions, and easy choices across the digital product set.
    • Conduct user research using appropriate methodologies to support discovery, concepting, execution, and reflection product development phases.
    • Translate quantitative and qualitative insights into experiential design ideas and concepts using experience maps / flows, wireframes, and content models.
    • Conduct content audits and form partnerships with in-house subject matter experts to inform content strategy.
    • Think creatively and analytically while understanding the opportunities and constraints of communicating across multiple channels.
    • Present ideas in formal and informal settings to get stakeholder buy-in.
    • Align with our brand voice and digital content strategy and continue to evolve our writing style guide.
    • Receive feedback from stakeholders gracefully and take an iterative approach to proposed solutions.
    • Be comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Use tools like Figma, Miro, Confluence, and Jira.
  • Proactively take initiative on project-based work and adopt UX writing best practices.

Must-haves:

  • A portfolio featuring multiple multichannel projects and supporting artifacts
  • 3+ years professional experience in a UX writing, copywriting, content strategy or technical communications role (agency, design firm, or in-house)
  • Solid understanding of conversational writing for digital products
  • Knowledge of user-centered methodologies and design thinking
  • Excellent writing, editing, research, and problem-solving skills
  • Content management system experience
  • Hands on experience conducting user research such as interviews, surveys, field studies, usability testing, A/B testing, and/or other methods and analyzing results
  • Ability to effectively communicate your decision-making as it relates to business goals and user needs
  • Mobile app / responsive web experience
  • An “I’ll figure it out” attitude and approach

Nice-to-haves:

  • Degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Psychology, or related field
  • Experience working within an Agile or other iterative development process
  • CRM or other enterprise-level systems experience
  • eCommerce experience
  • Knowledge / Advocacy of WCAG 2.1 Accessibility best practices for writing

What you can expect as a new hire:

  • During your first week, you’ll:
    • Get to know the UX and Product team members you’ll be working with
    • Begin to get a sense of the business, brands, and digital products
    • Learn about our technology platforms at a high-level and product roadmap
    • Ask lots of questions!
  • During your first month, you’ll:
    • Understand who’s who on the other teams we work closely with
    • Have gained confidence with our brands, UX flows and core design system
    • Have a high-level understanding of the business structure and customer base
    • Be ready to start taking ownership of a UX project or two
  • During your third month, you’ll:
    • Be comfortable working within our brand guidelines
    • Grow your understanding of our customers through research and user testing
    • Work with a Senior UX writer or independently to develop concepts and executions on multiple website or mobile app projects
    • Collaborate with Product & Engineering on the Opportunity-Discovery-Solution process
    • Contribute to the core design system and help maintain component usage guidelines
