Animal Hospital Of Streamwood is a two doctor fast past clinic looking for an energetic and compassionate veterinary technician to join our team. Our clinic offers services such as: wellness visits, vaccines, soft tissue surgery, ultrasonography, digital radiography, and in-house diagnostics.

The Veterinary Technician's role is to assists the veterinarians in the day-to- day job as a veterinary technician, i.e.: anesthesia monitoring, radiology, dental scaling, venipuncture, laser therapy, client education, inventory management, job safety, etc. In addition, the Veterinary Technician will work directly with the other technicians in regards to training, work with management on hiring new staff members, help maintain OSHA standards, supervise the technician team, and set an example for all hospital staff to follow in animal care. The Veterinary Technician should excel in client communication and education, must be a detail- oriented, must be able to make good decisions, respond quickly and calmly to crises, and maintain high standards of patient care.

The Veterinary Technician should enjoy working with diverse people and animals and be friendly and flexible in the face of varying expectations from clients and co-workers. A technician's focus is ever changing according to the priority of the moment. This often requires significant multi-tasking and creative thinking ability.

They must remain calm and collected in the face of emergency situations in order to lead others through the tasks that must be accomplished.

The ideal candidate for this role must have at least 2 years’ experience as a veterinary technician (certified technician preferred) and must have experience in a managerial/supervisory role.

Reports to: Chief of Staff (COS)/Hospital Manager

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Veterinary Technician (Required)
• Minimum 2 years as a supervisor/manager (Required)
• CVT (Preferred)

Skills Needed:

• Ability to read and comprehend instructions
• Ability to work with a veterinary based computer program
• Experience in the care of animals including proper restraint techniques
• Exception customer service skills
• Effective communication techniques with clients either on the phone or in person
• Effective communication techniques with other coworkers, management, and

DVMs

• Ability to move and work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to lead/supervise a team

Educational Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred
• CVT (Preferred)
• Minimum age requirement of 18 years old
