Department of Medicine: Allergy and Infectious Diseases has an outstanding opportunity for Part Time Web Computing Specialist.
Position Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to provide broad programming services for the University of Washington Infectious Diseases Education and Assessment (IDEA) program. This position will collaborate with IDEA staff and external partners to improve practices, processes, and tools for development, testing and versioning, continuous integration, automated release and deployment of service changes, and operations and monitoring. This position will contribute ideas and data to inform strategy, to promote learning, and to enact the overarching vision and mission of the IDEA program.
We are seeking a seasoned professional who in the short term can provide support for an existing content management and learning management system. In the long term, this position will help evolve our platform to its next generation.
IDEA has successfully developed and launched four national online infectious disease training curricula – the National HIV Curriculum [www.hiv.uw.edu], the National STD Curriculum [www.std.uw.edu], Hepatitis B Online [www.hepatitisb.uw.edu], and Hepatitis C Online [www.hepatitisc.uw.edu]. To date, these IDEA curricula have more than 128,000 registered learners. IDEA is a nationally recognized technology leader in delivering online educational content.
Position Complexities:
This position requires a high level of technical expertise, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Impact:
The UW is strongly committed to developing partnerships in infectious disease training in the areas of HIV, hepatitis and sexually transmitted diseases, and other infectious diseases both domestically and internationally. The IDEA program is housed in the Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, headed by Anna Wald, MD, MPH. Specifically, this position will be supporting online health information and education training platforms that will increase the visibility of the UW's commitment to HIV, STDs, and viral hepatitis care and treatment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and at least 4 years of experience
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

This position requires an individual who possesses excellent judgment and works well under stress and while juggling competing priorities. This individual needs to be extremely focused, well-organized, and flexible with regard to work hours and the ability to accommodate the workload to meet deadlines. This position requires demonstrated superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex, technical information in an easy-to-understand way. The individual must be self-motivated with an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
