North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission is currently accepting applications for a full-time position as a WIC - Nutrition Aide based in Bradford, PA.

Starting wage range of $31,141 - $37,369 (Dependent On Experience)

OBJECTIVE:

To screen and enroll applicants into the Women, Infants, and Children Program for nutritional services; provide basic instruction and issue food vouchers to clients. Refer clients to other agencies as required and needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:

1. Interview program applicants to compile standard background information for verification of eligibility and to complete data entry.

2. Explain the program to participants, including the use of eWIC, WIC program rules, and make referrals to community organizations on an as needed basis.

3. Perform anthropometric measurements after completing the required training.

4. Conduct hemoglobin testing after receiving required training.

5. Provide basic nutrition education. Promote and support breastfeeding. Make referrals to the BF Peer C program if appropriate.

6. Work to achieve local agency breastfeeding and nutrition goals.

7. Document on-line education and referral information provided to clients. Maintain accurate and legible records.

8. Issue program benefits to participants.

9. Attend health fairs and other outreach events as assigned. Work to achieve local agency Outreach goals.

10. Travel to other clinics throughout our assigned region as needed.

11. Check voicemail on a daily basis for assigned clinics not open.

12. Other related duties as assigned.

INTERFACE:

Internal - Must interface positively with the WIC Director and the Dietitians, Nutritionists, Nurses (Competent Professional Authorities), and other Nutrition Aides.

External - Must maintain positive rapport with WIC clients, representatives from other agencies, and the general public.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education – High school diploma or GED.

Experience – 6 months experience in nutrition or completion of approved college nutrition or dietetics course.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Must have good mathematical skills.

· Must have a high level of reasoning and problem solving skills.

· Must have good verbal skills.

· Must have a high level of interpersonal skills.

· Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel regionally on an as needed basis.

· Sitting: 60%; Walking/standing: 40%.

· Vision and hearing correctable to within the normal range.

· Lifting occasionally up to 35 pounds.

EQUIPMENT UTILIZED

· Personal computer and printer.

· Office equipment, i.e. telephone system, fax, copier, etc.

· Various nutritional assessment instruments.
