Duties

  • Independently writes, edits, and proof reads articles for print and online publications. Creates, researches and reviews articles ensuring information is accurate and sufficiently detailed to prevent publication errors or improper information.
  • Conducts thorough quality assurance (QA) checks; follows established goals, deadlines and production schedules. Ensures that publications conform to organizational and government policies, practices and style guidelines.
  • Develops content using a variety of multimedia formats including photography and video. Uses desktop publishing hardware and software to draft, edit and layout the material and sometimes to design, print and distribute it.
  • Independently or in a group setting, manages publishing projects from conception to printing and distribution. Coordinates with production ; sets priorities for editing publications and other materials.
  • Establishes rapport with contacts within and outside the organization. Keeps supervisor informed on the status of assigned projects and alerts supervisor of potential delay. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess the following:
1. A minimum of one year of specialized experience directly related to the duties described above. Specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Note: Combinations of education and experience are qualifying and may be acceptable in lieu of the one year specialized experience requirement.
2. Knowledge and documented skill in grammar, writing, and editing.
3. Experience in producing/editing content for a multimedia organization.
4. Comprehensive oral and written communication skills.
5. Ability to use computers with standard software packages and desktop publishing.
6. Comprehensive knowledge of publishing concepts, practices and technologies.
7. Demonstrated knowledge of writing for the web.
8. Knowledge/skill in taking and transmitting publishable photographs and videos.
