Department: The Salisbury Zoological Park is committed to enhancing our quality of life by providing a friendly, relaxing environment where educational and recreational opportunities come together through participation and interaction. With its animals, staff, volunteers and park-like setting the Zoo encourages appreciation of wildlife and inspires conservation of our natural world.
Position Profile: A Zookeeper II prepares food for the animals, cleans and disinfects animal exhibits. Develops and implements behavioral enrichment to enhance the animals' lives; participates in significant internal committee or working group; and performs other duties as assigned. Weekend work required, evening work required for some special events.
Preferred Education: High school diploma or G.E.D.
Preferred Experience: Three years of experience working with large animal; or equivalent training, education and/or experience.
Requirements/Certifications: Valid driver's license; CPR/First Aid Certification*; Active membership in associated professional organization*; successful completion of NIMS ICS 100 & 700* *or ability/willingness to obtain within 60 days.
