2GEN COORDINATOR

The 2 GEN Coordinator will coordinate opportunities for children and adults using a Whole Family Approach adopted from the Aspen Institute five areas of family wellbeing to empower families in setting and pursuing goals to move them out of poverty.

The Coordinator will be responsible for all casework related activities needed in assisting families meet goals and navigate community and government-based systems.
The qualified candidate will provide casework activities to families including but not limited to, phone and/or person to person contact/interviews, assistance with establishing priorities and setting goals, conducting intake assessments, developing family goal plans, assistance with referrals to appropriate service providers and coordination with community agencies & coaching to families, monitoring/evaluation of progress and documentation of family activities and events.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Work with clients, schools, day care settings and other community-based agencies to assist clients in meeting their needs and increasing their overall well-being.
  • Engage with children and families in a solution focused and strengths -based manner.
  • Develop case plans, including goal setting.
  • Monitor progress for families.
  • Assist with housing and childcare needs for families. Also, any additional needs within the Aspen Institute’s five (5) areas of family wellbeing – including social capital, economic assets, education and child development, health & wellbeing, and postsecondary education & employment.
  • Participate in case conferences/team meetings/reviews as needed.

. Requirements: REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: To be successful in this position, you will need to be competent in:

  • Maintains effective relationships with service providers and community organizations in the interest of clients and program goals

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Human Service or related field and two (2) years of experience working in a human service field providing services to clients in need; or
  • Associate’s Degree and five (5) years of experience working in the human service field, relevant to the position responsibilities

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to satisfactorily complete and pass all required background screenings
  • Must possess a valid class C Maryland Driver’s License
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Follows program policies and procedures.
  • Respect the confidential nature of all DCS, Inc. and DCS, Inc. customer information exposed to in the course of work performance.

COVID-19 considerations:
Face coverings are required in all DCS buildings, Residential Homes, and vehicles.

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Cambridge, MD: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

  • Human Services: 5 years (Preferred)
