Join our Center for Dyslexia Team!
Join a dynamic and motivated multi-disciplinary diagnostic team evaluating school-age children and adolescents with suspected learning disorders! The Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders, Scottish Rite for Children diagnostic team is dedicated to serving children through innovative evaluation, clinical diagnosis, child-specific recommendations, and parent and professional education.
We are seeking a full-time assessment specialist. This professional will engage in extensive instruction using the medical approach to the psycho-educational evaluation of school-age children and adolescents with suspected learning disorders.
Duties/Responsibilities

Apply developmental and learning principles and the medical model.

Use available information, including parent concerns, educator observations, school and private education assessment documentation, medical records, collaboration with parents, and analysis of the child’s pattern of performance during the assessment in this center to craft an individualized psycho-educational assessment.

Collaborate with the family to gather more information to support or change diagnoses.

Provide consultation to explain the diagnoses, child-specific recommendations, and guidance to help the family work with educators.

Generate a comprehensive written report documenting the child’s “story” and support for the diagnoses and evidence-based or best practice recommendations.

Communicate specific content for families, colleagues and/or professionals through seminar participation, presentation, print or video educational resources, crafting or developing other relevant projects, e.g., research.
Required Skills/Abilities

Professionals with a master’s or doctorate and experience in diagnosing and making recommendations for learning disorders and co-morbid conditions are encouraged to apply. School psychologists, clinical psychologists, pediatric speech-language pathologists, and educational diagnosticians will be considered.

A minimum of two years of supervised training and experience in psycho-educational diagnostic evaluations of school-age children and adolescents is preferred.
