Job Description: Accounting Specialist

SPIRE Institute & Academy (IA) is a comprehensive academic, athletic, personal skills and career development experience located within a world class event and wellness complex. Constructed on nearly 500 acres with more than 750,000 sq. ft. under roof, SPIRE (www.spireinstitute.org) encompasses four divisions: SPIRE Academy, an accredited college preparatory international boarding school and multi-sport/specialty training and development academy for 9-12 graders and a post grad program; SPIRE Institute, the research and development arm studying performance improvement across multiple disciplines; SPIRE Events, a facility and team that hosts local, national and international tournaments and events with the NCAA, the Big East, Big Ten and Atlantic 10 conferences, Olympic trials and world championship qualifiers; and SPIRE Fit, a community membership-based fitness, swim and health center open to the public. Sports currently featured on campus include swimming, track and field, basketball, esports, drone racing, wrestling and lacrosse.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry and processing of all vendor bills and act as the liaison for all corporate vendors
- Maintain all documentation files relating to A/P functions
- Oversee corporate credit card program and employee expense reporting; assist in monthly credit card reconciliation & Employee debit card reconciliation
- Assist Controller with other finance department related tasks as needed
- Adhere to confidentiality standards and operate within a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk.
- Assist with A/R collection
- Adjusting Journal Entries as needed
- Process cash disbursements and EFT payments weekly
- Manage charges for corporate accounts ( Verizon, Office Depot, etc.)
- Assist with providing documentation for annual audits
- Process annual 1099’s
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience electronic data entry and record keeping
- Minimum of 2 year experience with Quickbooks Online, advanced experience preferred
- Experience with Bill.com
- Promote confidentiality of financial and other data at all times
- Associates in Accounting or relevant professional experience
- Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and procedures
- General knowledge of all MS Office Programs, advanced experience with Excel a plus
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment; effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
- Prompt positive, professional relationships with co-workers and clients, vendors and partners
Compensation:
- $19-$24/hr
