Research and Development Specialist

Provides technical support and contributes to the creation of new products; this individual is an active participant of new product ideation beginning at concept through successful commercialization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborates cross-functionally to drive the Customer to Concept process to bring new products to market.
• Research trends; emerging new ingredients, packaging, and technology.
• Understand all the equipment and processes used to create each sample product.
• Provides leadership and support for the design, development, refinement, and implementation of products by initiating research to identify consumer needs; develop new products to meet consumer needs; research consumer acceptance of products; work with production to identify process improvement.

Nutrition

· Understand ingredient data, development of nutrition and ingredient labeling, allergen assessment and nutritional calculations.

· Understand the USDA nutritional database and FDA guidelines for labeling and

nutritional labeling.

· Develop and maintain accuracy of BSF’s nutritional and ingredient data in our internal

Database. Manage and support the GS1 initiative by uploading verified nutritional data to a Global Network. This is a collaborative effort and will involve working with other departments such as Process Improvement, Purchasing and Marketing.

Skills / Requirements:

• 3 years of relevant work experience in the food industry
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concreate variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Excellent planning, organizational, multi-tasking and project management skills
• Maintain a positive work environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday

Education:

• Associate (Preferred)

Experience:

• related: 2 years (Preferred)
• CPG: 1 year (Preferred)
