Job description
  • Provides T.R. assessment, treatment planning and clinical service delivery including 1: 1 intervention and group work to residents of a caseload responsibility, and will participate in interdisciplinary care planning and attend meetings as scheduled.

  • Evaluate the care plan and the resident’s response to the care plan quarterly, including quarterly notes.

  • Consider the capabilities and desires of the individual resident in the development and appropriate documentation of specific activity recommendations for measurable goals and interventions.

  • Assist in the planning, development, organization, implementation, evaluation, and directing of the Therapeutic Recreation Department.

  • Conducts off unit groups as assigned. Conducts group work to specialized populations as assigned, to the various population subgroups.

  • Provides 1:1 intervention to residents outside of caseload responsibility, inclusive of crisis intervention, and referral in specialty areas.

  • Conducts/participates in large group, community and special events designed and delivered as assigned.

  • Designs individual population-specific clinical Therapeutic Recreation, Leisure Education and Recreation Participation programs/ or modality in accordance to specialty. Develop a unit program as assigned.

  • Supervises volunteers as assigned.

  • Participates in inservice education, training of intern, orientation of new departmental employees.

  • Maintains work and storage areas in a neat, clean and safe manner. Maintains all areas in ready to work condition.

  • Maintains statistical (Attendance) record keeping.

  • Maintains inventory of recreation supplies, submits requisitions for adequate and appropriate program supplies as needed.

  • Prepares monthly calendars, announcements for posting on unit. Maintains unit bulletin boards in public areas in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

  • May escort resident to and from activities.

  • Participates in Departmental Performance Improvement activities.

  • Participates in fire safety and disaster preparedness drills

  • Reports all unsafe / hazardous conditions / equipment immediately

  • Must be aware of and responsive to the specific needs of population served: including age related changes in sensory, cognitive, physical and social function, communication and endurance.

  • Coordinate all necessary requirements for field trips when assigned.

  • Make oral and written reports/recommendations to the Therapeutic Department Director concerning operations of the Therapeutic Recreation Department, including making rounds as assigned by Therapeutic Recreation Director to assure that Therapeutic Recreation personnel are performing required duties, and to assure that appropriate therapeutic recreation programs are being rendered to meet the needs of the residents / persons served and registrants.

  • Perform other functions as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed by the therapeutic recreation director.

  • In an emergency, performs other duties necessary for the welfare of patients or the efficient operations of the facility.
