Job Description
Western Nevada College is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 4 in the Workforce, Career & Technical Education Division (WCTE). The ideal candidate must have knowledge and experience in Workforce Career & Technical Education to support the division’s programs that span various specialized industries. this includes an understanding of various industry standards and the ability to provide support to, and maintain relationship with, the student population, business partners, statewide liaisons, and general public to ensure that Western Nevada College provides relevant services to meet the changing demands in the workforce, career, & technical industry. It is imperative this role provides consistent, quality, pertinent support for the success of the division to sustain funding and credibility in the workforce, career, & technical education industry.
The position will be providing administrative and clerical support to the Director of the department to facilitate the processes of planning, coordinating, developing, evaluating, and at times, completing projects. Other duties include, but are not limited to: answering student and staff inquiries; maintaining appointments and schedules; being the liaison between direct reporting staff and the college executives; making travel arrangements; budgeting and purchasing; coordinating meetings and events; researching policies and information for reports; maintaining complex and confidential databases; supervising other employees when needed; serving on multiple committees; and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources OR
  • One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates experience with Workday and OnBase programs are encouraged to apply.
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 29 (Entry, Step 01 $19.32/hr - Step 05 $22.83/hr)

Department Information
WCTE encompasses at least 10 distinct programs and numerous sub-disciplines. These include Automotive Technology and Auto Body, Welding, Machine Tool, Advanced Manufacturing, Computer Information Technology and related disciplines, Education, Graphic Arts, Criminal Justice, Deaf Studies, Business and Management. It houses the only two Bachelor’s Degrees WNC offers, multiple Associate’s Degrees, and dozens of Skills Certificates and Certificates of Achievement. There are currently 14 full time faculty and approximately 70-80 adjunct faculty. The latter varies from semester to semester.
