Essential Duties
- Provide basic coordination support for alarms testing, fire system shutdowns, and permit requests with facility personnel and alarms electricians based on information received from multiple sources.
- Verify fire panel, maintenance testing and central alarm system database information.
- Enter, update, and monitor the status of fire and hazard alarm systems via the Computer Aided Dispatch System (CADS) and alarms console.
- Relay testing requests to alarms personnel, external agencies, and support groups.
- Coordinate and track activities and logistics for the Emergency Management Department (EMD) Alarms Division.
- Create and maintain electronic and/or paper files and other record keeping systems.
- Communicate information by way of radio, electronic mail, and/or paging systems.
- Monitor, coordinate, and communicate the status of facility fire, hazard and building alarms systems, and building emergency page systems to EMD personnel.
- Perform all assignments in accordance with ES&H, security, and business practice requirements and policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Associate degree in a technology related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to operate and enter information into the Computer Aided Dispatch System while wearing a headset and communicating on the telephone or radio system.
- Experience using radio and paging communication equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly observe and respond to audible and visual alarms or alerts from a variety of systems.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate accurate information while handling multiple overlapping calls, screening calls, and in demonstrated ability to keep and maintain accurate records.
- Experience tracking, compiling and monitoring data and results.
- Ability to prioritize workload and effectively handle multiple and diverse tasks with frequent interruptions, changing priorities, and short deadlines.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to provide customer service that is responsive, and diplomatic.
- Demonstrated dependability, strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively as a team member as well as independently to accomplish organizational objectives.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of computers and associated software (e.g., MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Knowledge and understanding of LLNL policies and procedures.
- Experience working in an emergency response organization.
Special Requirements
Pre-Placement Medical Exam: A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

Anticipated Clearance Level: N/A (position will be cleared to this level).
