Overview:
This position will be located at NASA’s Langley Research Center.
Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies. We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

Responsibilities:
This position will require the ability to multi-task and work efficiently on more than one project at a time. The Architectural Designer will take ownership of completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned. Individuals in this position must also demonstrate the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a multi-discipline technical team.
Responsibilities
- Development and production of deliverables in support of the overall scope of Architectural and Engineering projects
- Prepare architectural design drawings in all phases of a project
- Produce architectural and structural details from sketches
- Create design projects with other architects and engineering disciplines
- Perform complex drafting assignments from general instructions and from computations and sketches
- Coordinate assignments with project management, senior engineers, and drafters
- Perform Field Investigations
- Evaluate functional feasibility of designs and their conformance to specifications
- Prepare client presentations
- Solve problems by exercising creativity and sound professional judgment
U.S. Citizenship is required. Two (2) years of college with courses in engineering or associated disciplines and eight (8) years of related experience. Additional relevant education may be substituted for a portion of the experience. Communication skills, both oral and written, should be commensurate with the position. Position requires comprehensive knowledge of programs gained through long and varied work experience in field of specialty. Must be able to communicate effectively using visual aids and computing technology for problem analysis and solution.
- Current U.S. Driver’s License
- Self-motivated personality with the ability to work in a team setting with good collaboration skills
- Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in person and in writing
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft office suite
- Working knowledge of architectural codes and standards including ICC and NFPA
- A minimum of 3 years of experience producing construction document packages including drawings and specifications
- A strong understanding of building systems and how to produce building construction details is required
- Graphic presentation skills

Physical Requirements
Must have sufficient mobility to enter into confined spaces, crawl into or onto various assemblies while maintaining a clear vision of safety is required. Potential exposure to high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, propellants, and the like. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions (10%). Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs. (10%)
