This is a 12-month non-tenure accruing position that will be 30% teaching (College of Agricultural and Life Sciences) and 70% extension (Florida Cooperative Extension Service), available in the Department of Animal Sciences, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, at the University of Florida. This assignment may change in accordance with the needs of the unit. Extension duties will include education and outreach to Florida dairy producers, including on-farm training and demonstrations. The faculty member will coordinate state-wide dairy education events and programs, including the Dairy Production Conference and Family Day at the Dairy Farm. The faculty members will also serve as the EDIS coordinator for dairy-related submissions and serve as the coordinator for the Florida International Dairy Academy. Teaching duties include recruitment and mentoring of undergraduate students enrolled in dairy science paths of the Animal Sciences major, instruct the courses Lactational physiology and Dairy Farm Evaluation, other dairy science courses as needed, and advise the undergraduate Dairy Science Club.

The faculty member may participate in graduate education by serving on or chairing graduate committees, supervising thesis and dissertation research, supervising undergraduate research, and publishing research results.

Minimum Requirements:

A doctorate (foreign equivalent acceptable) in dairy or animal sciences or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates should have demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, interpersonal relationships, and procurement of extramural funding. Candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Land-Grant system. Candidates must also have a commitment to IFAS core values of excellence, diversity, global involvement, and accountability.



Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in cooperative extension and teaching, particularly in a dairy science role, is desirable. In-depth knowledge of and experience with the Florida dairy industry are preferred.
