Nemours is seeking an AVP, Patient Access (Full-Time), to join our Nemours team.
Location can be Delaware, Orlando, Pensacola, or Jacksonville, Florida. Hybrid position.
The AVP, Patient Access will design, build, and drive Nemours’ overall patient access strategy, including methodologies and a roadmap for internal processes, tools, systems, and capabilities required to produce a world class care delivery system. The AVP is responsible and accountable for the strategic and operational oversight of all patient access functions, including referral and retention. This includes administering, reviewing, and overseeing the performance of patient access, referral management, and non-clinical experience throughout the care delivery system. The AVP is responsible for providing direction and leadership to achieve ongoing operational quality, productivity, and efficiency and for ensuring the optimal technology and operational infrastructure are in place to support the expansion of the organization’s clinical access strategy.
Job Responsibilities:
- Sets vision for the patient journey that delivers frictionless access through the Nemours care delivery system.
- Leads patient access and care delivery system in collaboration with regional and enterprise-wide leaders to execute high quality, cost-effective, and efficient growth strategies.
- Develops a plan to advance toward a central enterprise access solution while also reflecting regional and program solutions. Collaborates with operating departments/divisions to create alignment and coordinate expected access outcomes.
- Provides strategic vision and direction to effectively manage industry shifts, regulatory changes, and rising cost pressures, challenging assumptions, and standards of business. Drives operational performance improvement.
- Maintains an expert understanding of competitive healthcare landscape and emerging market trends to best position the organization for success. Explains specifically how changes in competitors, clients and market segments will affect Nemours stature and growth potential in the marketplace.
- Ensures that patient access and care delivery system teams provide world-class service to patients that continually exceeds expectations and are in line with Nemours’ mission and values.
- Manages the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities, seeks ways to control costs without compromising the quality of services delivered.
- Leads teams in meeting high quality performance standards and in achieving KPIs in all areas of responsibility by creating an environment of continuous improvement and accountability. Key performance metrics: engagement, turnover, retention, diversity and equity in the workforce, leadership competency.
- Develops standard and reliable processes for assessing capacity needs. For areas with constrained capacity, works with clinical and administrative leadership to identify and implement specific strategies for enhanced access. Identify, develop, and create organizational staffing models that support access, as well as policies and standard work.
- Creates a workplace culture that is consistent with the overall organization, and emphasizes the identified mission, vision, guiding principles and values of the organization.
- Collaborate with revenue cycle leaders to achieve financial and revenue cycle targets through adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborates with IT and other teams in the design, adoption, and optimization of access-related tools and technologies, such as EPIC optimization, referring provider portals, call center systems, and capacity management tools.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required. Master’s Degree in business, health administration or related discipline is preferred.
- Experience in referral management and patient access services within a large health system with management experience required.
- Advanced knowledge of EPIC Cadence and Beacon system required.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience required.
- Travel is required between locations.
