The Banking Specialist II is responsible for maintaining customer relationships by performing efficient and accurate bank transactions on the teller line, opening and closing accounts, assisting in the branch opening/closing procedures, and daily operations in support of Bank goals and objectives.

Banking Specialist II floats between one of the 3 New Valley Bank and Trust Locations: 16 Acres, Monarch Place-Springfield or West Springfield based on staffing needs and works rotating Saturdays.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in the daily operations of the branch offices. Processing deposits, withdrawals and check cashing and other financial interactions.
  • Engage customers while establishing deposit accounts, and accurately processes teller transactions and ancillary services.
  • Sell and cross sell bank products.
  • Collaborate with Banking Specialists I and Sr Banking Specialist to assist in daily branch office activities including balancing and auditing responsibilities of vaults and ATMs; comply with bank operations and security procedures.
  • Provide a positive customer experience and assist staff members by applying compliance, policy and procedure knowledge to handle complex transactions and meet customer needs.
  • Assist in the training of new branch staff and development of current staff.
  • Assist in the growth and management of the branch portfolios
  • Adhere to New Valley Bank and Trust, policies, procedures and customer service standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure quality and efficiency of service.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

New Valley Bank and Trust employees must follow all policies and procedures related to their position and any laws, rules or compliance regulations that apply in the accomplishment of their assigned duties, while also using good judgment and ethical standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Skills and Experience

  • Preferably 2 years minimum of retail banking experience in a bank branch or customer service center environment.
  • Working knowledge of retail banking: processing transactions, professional customer service, recommending and cross-selling bank products-understanding customer needs.
  • Experience with bank operations, cash balancing and security procedures following institutions directives and policies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge retail banking transactions:
    • Cash handling experience: counting, cash drawer, unfit currency etc.
    • Experience processing transactions for deposit accounts: deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, transaction workflow.
  • Experience in opening and maintenance of deposit accounts: checking, savings, Money Market accounts, certificate of deposits (CD) etc.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and transport bags of coin and currency to appropriate vaults and cash drawers.
