Billing Specialist

Position Summary

The Billing Specialist with PowerTown will be responsible for assisting the billing team in payment processing for DUKE Energy. This position will report to the Assistant Project Manager and will be responsible for maintaining and creating invoices/billings, ensuring timely collections, preparing various month-end accruals, and providing exceptional customer/vendor service. Strong communication skills are essential for this position. Attention to detail is imperative. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated and have the ability to read/understand contracts to ensure invoices are prepared accordingly.

Essential Accounts Receivable Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create billing invoices per customer contract specifications
• Collect, gather and review support documents from the field to be used to generate invoices
• Help monitor A/R aging and follow-up on past dues as needed
• Take operational action to resolve and explain any customer account discrepancies
• Prepare month and year-end accruals

Position Requirements

• Pleasant customer service and strong organizational skills
• Detail Oriented
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Especially Excel)
• Demonstrate professional communication skills
• High school diploma required and some college preferred.
• Knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles and practices.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience a plus but not required.
• Experience with contract customers such as Duke energy.
• Working experience and/or knowledge of operating systems such as Oracle, Maximo and Perceptive a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
