Position: Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist
The Monogram Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Manager will bring to the role a strong understanding of clinical documentation, coding, and risk adjustment requirements. The Manager will lead a team of clinical documentation improvement specialist to ensure each encounter represents accurate and complete documentation of the patient’s health status. Responsibilities include managing, coordinating, and performing day-to-day operations to include personnel management, education, training, productivity, work assignments and quality reviews. Facilitates and promotes standardization across the enterprise and ensures alignment of high-quality documentation that supports a compliant and accurate representation of the clinical care provided to patients. The Manager will also demonstrate strong leadership, operational planning, and presentational skills as well as display good judgment and critical thinking to address business problems that touch upon either the coding unit’s or clinical consultant(s) work.
Position Requirements
- Associate degree or higher, preferred
- CDIP, CCDS, CDEO credentials, required
- RN, LPN credentials, required
- RHIA/RHIT, CPC, CRC, CCS, CCS-P, preferred
- 5+ years’ experience as CDI specialist, required
- 3+ years’ experience in HCC Coding, preferred
- Must have proficiency using a PC in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Electronic Medical Records
- Experience communicating & working closely with Physicians
- Experience in Medicare programs and regulations including fraud and abuse and Risk Adjustment
Roles and Responsibilities
- Maintains production goals
- Audits and analyzes clinical documentation to identify compliance and opportunities for improvement.
- Review analytics and advises providers on interpretation and/or validation of data; recommends solutions to meet objectives.
- Provides timely correspondence with providers regarding clinical documentation opportunities and queries.
- Keeps abreast of regulatory changes related to documentation, coding and communicate these changes to appropriate staff.
- Identifies trends through data analysis or chart review, reviewing existing policy for accuracy and developing new policies, as necessary.
- Applies mandated regulatory, documentation and coding guidelines to documentation
- Demonstrates proficiency with all areas of CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS coding. Category II codes, auditing, and education.
- Prepares and presents educational training to all internal constituents related to clinical documentation issues and coordinates same with clinical staff, compliance, and coding staff.
- Identifies potential opportunities based on claims and medical record data to ensure the accurate reporting of the severity of the patient's condition.
- Experience working remotely with proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet goals and deadlines
- Performs other duties as required or assigned
