About the Role

As the Children's Program Supervisor at our Family Hope Center, you shine hope in the lives of children and families by developing and implementing program structure and design for our children's programs. In this role, you will supervise the program team members to ensure compliance with state licensing and monitoring standards and Buckner's mission, vision, values, policies and procedures.

What You'll Do

As a member of our team, you will have an impact on our program participants through accomplishment of the following responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and implement a holistic children's program which provides challenging academic enrichment that extends school day and summer learning in a meaningful and fun context and provides opportunities for youth development, socialization and maturation through a wide range of activities in literacy, arts, technology, recreation, leadership development, and community service.
  • Provide environment that stimulates self-confidence, trust and a respect for others. Remain attentive to the physical, emotional, spiritual and academic growth of children. Ensure environment is age appropriate, culturally sensitive and allows for children's personal expression.
  • Develop, organize, schedule and implement program activities for school age children grades 1 through 12 yrs old.
  • Develop and implement systems for family involvement and engagement in the program.
  • Determine the ongoing needs and interests of students, parents, and school staff and review, revise and improve program services to meet emerging needs and interests. Include preparation for and support of formal and informal evaluations of program services, effectiveness, and impact.
  • Conduct individual assessments of the children in the program in collaboration with the parents to ensure needs are being met and to ensure program effectiveness. Conduct regular parent meetings and/or family events for ongoing evaluations.
  • Oversee the day-to-day program activities to ensure quality standards and a safe environment.
  • Oversee client enrollment based on established eligibility guidelines.
  • Foster and ensure open, effective communication between teachers, parents, and staff to improve student motivation and remove barriers to learning and development.
  • Maintain an awareness of the needs of children with openness and flexibility for program changes when necessary. Implement program changes as directed.
  • Create opportunities to publicize the children's program. Prepare and give presentations as needed to publicize the program and services offered.
  • Develop and maintain the record retention system for required program documentation. Ensure that record retention systems meet and/or exceed licensing standards and Buckner policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Develop and manage budget effectively. Manage program resources to ensure they are used efficiently and appropriately.
  • Assist in process to hire, supervise, monitor, evaluate and provide direction to direct reports, as needed.
  • Assist with professional growth and development; assist with development and communication of goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and provide constructive feedback; conduct annual performance evaluation of childrens program staff.
  • Effectively develop and maintain relationships with donors, churches, schools, and other agencies.
  • Cultivate and monitor relationships with outside service providers, consultants, agencies and organizations to develop relationships to enhance the delivery of services to clients.
  • Liaison to community; speaks in public on behalf of Buckner.
  • Maintain compliance with all Buckner policies, procedures and requirements. Maintain compliance with state and federal laws and regulatory requirements. Maintain and ensure staff compliance with agency licensing standards.
  • Report suspected child abuse and/or neglect to Director and appropriate law enforcement agency.
  • Assist, guide and support supervisors with employee selection, review, evaluation and terminations.
  • Conduct staff meetings regularly; attend staff meetings, client meetings, donor meetings and trainings as required.
  • Develop emerging leadership through professional growth and development.

What You'll Bring to the Team

To be successful in this role and a great addition to our team we need you to come with the following:

  • Minimum 2-3 years prior related experience working with children and families required.
  • Prior related program and staff management experience required.
  • Must have Child Care Director's License or meet requirements for licensure and agree to obtain license within 90 days of employment.
  • Requires proficient ability to speak, read and write English.
  • Requires ability to observe and make accurate assessments of situations and individuals and determine appropriate action required.
  • Requires proficient working knowledge and understanding of the applicable regulatory standards and requirements governing programs and services.
  • Requires ability to effectively interact and conduct ministry business within the community. Ability to sell strategic ministry opportunities with constituencies required.
  • Requires proficient ability to speak, read and write English.
  • Must demonstrate cultural understanding; ability to develop positive and trusting inter-cultural and interdenominational relationships based upon previous cross-cultural experience.
  • Requires ability to speak clearly and make self clearly understood in face to face interactions; to articulate with accuracy to speak on the phone.
  • Requires ability to relate positively, influentially, and sensitively to a broad spectrum of persons in a variety of multi-tiered relationships and settings.
  • Requires ability to effectively provide oversight to volunteers; requires administrative skills to include but not limited to volunteer selection, development, motivation, scheduling, and evaluation.
  • Requires the ability to provide personal transportation on an as needed basis to perform job functions in the community.
  • Requires ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle, with appropriate state license, following all laws applicable; must provide proof of liability insurance and must be eligible to be insured under Buckner's insurance policy. Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of Buckner. Must be age 18 to be employed with Buckner.
  • Requires ability to recognize confidential matters and maintain confidentiality.
  • Requires ability to motivate people.
  • Requires proficient ability to exhibit detail-oriented skills necessary to understand and manage a wide-range of information.
  • Requires ability to recognize differences in sounds, such as voices/noises that are loud and playful instead of angry and combative; and ability to differentiate tones and volume in conversations.
  • Requires ability to perform tasks with little supervision. Most tasks are governed by standard practices; however, some are not. Innovative thinking is required. Detail-oriented, with good organizational skills required. Requires leadership ability characterized by servant leadership, integrity and honesty. Must possess the ability to lead through influence as opposed to authority.
  • Requires ability to effectively handle multiple tasks with energy and excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to appropriately prioritize and re-prioritize tasks.
  • Requires ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing and speak in front of large groups of people. Requires outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Requires ability to work with frequent interruptions and in stressful situations; ability to respond timely and appropriately in crisis situations.
  • Requires personality attuned to the requirements of meeting needs of clients and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
  • Proficient working knowledge and ability to accurately and timely operate and perform computer related tasks with specific equipment and software applications required.
  • Requires professional commitment to Christian principles and teachings so as to perform tasks and responsibilities in alignment with Buckner's mission, vision, and values.
  • Requires ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 pounds continuously to move objects. Requires ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Requires ability to walk, stand and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time.
  • Requires ability to work nights and weekends.
  • Requires sufficient good health to properly discharge duties. Employees shall not be permitted to work who have infectious disease or skin lesion for the duration of the communicability.
  • Requires current CPR/First Aid certification.

Preferred Qualifications
