Position Summary:
The UAA Center for Human Development (CHD) is looking for a dynamic Communication Specialist to assist in the technical execution and implementation of our Center's communication needs. CHD is a Center for Excellence in Disabilities located within the College of Health at the University of Alaska Anchorage. This position will assist our various teams with developing and implementing accessible, plain-language communication plans. This is a hybrid position with a minimum of two days per week in the Anchorage office.Duties:
- Demonstrated applicable knowledge in persuasive and informative writing, creation of visual images and multimedia materials in support of communications goals.
- Knowledge of cross-cultural communications, including translation of technical documents into plain language.
- Knowledge in selecting appropriate software and tools.
- Advanced computer skills in graphic design, web design and databases.
- Ability to manage relational databases.
- Ability to conduct communications research and evaluation as needed.
- Ability to lead lower level staff.
Bachelor's degree in PR, Journalism, Communications or related field and two years of experience. Experience in the disability field preferred.
This is a full-time, 12-month, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
This is a hybrid position with a minimum of two days per week in the Anchorage office.
