Position Title: Communications & Marketing Manager

Location: Stateline, Nevada

Status: Full-time Exempt position with benefits

Salary/Benefits: Salary – DOE

Position Summary:

Responsible for managing the overall execution of the communication goals and assisting with brand management and content distribution strategies, including social media, website development, email marketing, advertising, and partner relationships.

Works closely with Public Relations agency and cooperates with the Integrated Marketing Services and Digital agency of record.

Assists with maintaining the organization’s connections and relationships in the community, including business, government, travel and tourism industry organizations, and community interest groups.

Participates in the Destination Stewardship Plan and destination sustainability implementation.

Assists with developing and managing existing events and new opportunities.

Promotes understanding of travel and tourism’s role in the South Lake Tahoe economy.

Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year college or university in communication, marketing, or a related field is required, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in hospitality and/or tourism, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required/Acquired Skills, Knowledge, and Competencies

Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

Strong working knowledge of the tourism industry and general business practices.

Experienced in the areas of communications and marketing management, which might include the latest in marketing trends, techniques, solutions, and technology applications.

Ability to interact tactfully with the media, stakeholders, and constituents and represent the organization in a professional and positive manner. The position is critical in managing crisis communications and execution as needed.

Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Some overnight travel, weekend and after-hours work.
