Position Summary:
Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates education and training curriculum collaboratively with Director for all divisions of the organization. Coordinates and implements staff education, orientation and competencies in alignment with regulatory requirements, strategic initiatives, best practices and employee needs. Evaluates and coordinates use of patient educational resources and tools within the organization. Oversees all student programs and provides community educational activities, as needed.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Develops staff education programs for all divisions of the organization. Education is based on strategic initiatives, regulatory requirements, best practices, current quality initiatives, evidenced based practice and employee needs.
2. Implements staff orientation programs for all divisions of the organization based on regulatory and organizational requirements. Orientation methods include: on-site corporate orientation, classroom clinical orientation, virtual classroom and preceptor program.
3. Evaluates and modifies staff competency programs for all divisions within Mclaren Homecare Group. Competencies are based on strategic initiatives, regulatory requirements, best practices, and organizational and employee needs.

Required:
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Home Care or Hospice
  • Computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Experience in a variety of educational formats/approaches and the use of technology in staff development
  • CPR Instructor certified or ability to be certified as such
  • Current Michigan driver’s license and insured automobile for daily use

Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing or health care related field
  • Minimum 2 years education experience in home care and hospice
  • 1 year of experience in quality improvement related activities
  • Minimum 1 year experience in wound care, IV’s, and Infusion Therapy
