Director Domestic Operations

The Director of Domestic Operations is responsible for the domestic operations, warehouse and facility. This leadership role directs and coordinates all domestic operational activities and includes managing existing company policies and practices and overseeing the domestic operations team. The operations leader will work to continuously improve and develop operations and to exceed internal and external customers expectation.

Job Description:

• Director will manage and oversee all domestic shipping operations, warehouse, facility management and dispatching local operated trucks.
• Manage operations staff and driver.
• Oversee operations standards for cost control, efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery.
• Directs the execution of operational policies and practices.
• Provides leadership for problem resolution that will facilitate continuous improvements.
• Oversee quoting process and establishing tariffs and aggressive rates with vendors to improve profitability.
• Determine most cost-effective routings of freight and guide and train staff on the same, based on customer need and cost.
• Manage gross profit on all files, ensure billing of shipments are handled in a timely and accurate manner.
• Ensure TSA compliance within the department.
• Develop and enhance processes and procedures for an effective operations department.
• Develop and train staff in domestic freight forwarding.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Minimum 5-10 years management experience and freight forwarding industry experience
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Superior communication skills both written and verbal
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Transportation software
• Strong analysis, organizational and decision-making skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication
