JOB SUMMARY

The Institutional Advancement Department at Saint Viator High School seeks to forge stronger partnerships and deeper relationships between the institution and all of its stakeholders— students, faculty, alumni, parents, community partners, media, parishes, feeder schools, foundations, business partners, and friends.

The funds raised will secure the long-term health of our institutionand provide increased annual and capital funding to support a variety of needs, including significant tuition assistance for students, critical building and facilities improvements, and funding for the arts and athletics. These crucial alternative resources buffer Saint Viator High School’s reliance on student tuition and fee increases to cover increasing costs of operations and program enhancements.

In collaboration with the President and COO, the Director will build and direct the fundraising and community development strategy for the school, using mission-driven strategies for raising funds through individuals, foundations, corporations and special events. The Director also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees Development Committee, and is encouraged to belong to appropriate professional and community organizations.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As part of the senior administrative team, the Director is responsible for the overall strategy and direction of Saint Viator High School, including: alumni relations, annual giving, major giving and planned giving programs (including capital campaigns and endowed scholarship program), marketing, and communications.
  • Works closely with the President, staff and board to create and implement a comprehensive development plan and department budget that supports the school’s mission, strategies and fundraising goals.
  • In partnership with the President, creates and executes the major gift and planned giving program and strategy, including: identifying existing and potential major donors, creating individual stewardship and solicitation plans, implementing planned giving engagement strategies and managing ongoing relationships.
  • Collaborates with support groups including Admissions Office, Alumni Association, Parent's Club, booster clubs, and other related groups to successfully execute existing fundraising programs and special events, and other family and community engagement initiatives.
  • Builds relationships and strategic partnerships with local community organizations and businesses that can be leveraged into mutually beneficial opportunities for event sponsorships, corporate partnerships and other community support of the school.
  • Leads all donor communications and marketing efforts, including annual reports, funding requests newsletters, digital assets and other campaign tools, ensuring that all external materials align with and enhance Saint Viator’s mission and values.
  • Oversee the ongoing implementation of a best practice development infrastructure, including systems, policies and procedures to ensure effectiveness and accountability across teams and in collaboration with other key departments.
  • Supervises the work of the Department staff, fostering a strong and collaborative team spirit; leads with a willingness to work together on complex projects, and supports each department member in their goals and professional development.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of professional fundraising experience with a proven ability to establish, maintain, grow, and inspire donors, prospects, volunteers, staff, and other stakeholders toward the accomplishment of fundraising goals.
  • Personal support of Saint Viator High School’s mission and vision, exercises good judgment, personal integrity and maturity.
  • Extensive successful experience with revenue budgeting and forecasting, and using data-driven strategies to achieve results.
  • Successful experience managing others, and strong ability to recruit, orient, train, mentor, and motivate staff.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively through speaking, listening, and writing.
  • A strategic orientation with a vision for the future, and the ability to create departmental plans with clear objectives, goals, tactics, and benchmarks.
  • Self-starter with a proven record of working independently while also able to work collaboratively with staff, management and board of directors.
  • Comfort meeting and speaking with a variety of people in a variety of professional and social situations.
  • Experience working in the development or advancement office of an education or school setting is a plus; in particular, experience successfully engaging families, alumni and activating volunteer committees.
  • Experience with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge donor database software is a plus.
  • A bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary is $100,000 - $130,000, depending on experience. Saint Viator High School offers a generous benefits package and pension program.
