We’re encouraged to be curious, collaborate, and turn ideas into solutions that came make health care better for all.As Director, IT Production Operations leader for Data and Analytics, you will lead multiple teams (both internal Blue Cross and vendor partner) to ensure the health of the data solutions that our delivery teams implement. You will also be the primary point of contact for data issues that arise, ensuring frequent clear communications, and rapid resolution of issues.
We will look for you to provide support for the data solutions that span the Blue Cross NC data ecosystem including our enterprise operational consolidated data sources, and our enterprise platforms supporting analytics (Teradata and AWS/Snowflake). You will be asked to help ensure these solutions support an overall corporate Data and Analytics Strategy; and to provide input to future year strategies.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Data ecosystem strategy and leadership
Provide the vision and associated roadmap for achieving strategic imperatives provided by IT leadership.
Proactively engage with architecture to envision and achieve a future state data architecture that is a true enabler for data needs at Blue Cross.
Proactively partner with the delivery teams to achieve optimal handoffs between delivery and production support teams, and to ensure that the foundation of the ecosystem is supporting delivery needs.
People Leadership
Manager of managers. Oversee the work responsibilities of 16 Blue Cross resources; including managers and team leaders. Accountability for the performance of ~80 contract resources under a managed services agreement.
Ensure all staff have the necessary skills and support to successfully perform their responsibilities.
Grow our next generation of talent and leaders.
Oversee a large ~80-person Managed Services Vendor.
Day-to-day data solutions operations
Bring forward recommendations to ensure operational excellence is achieved.
Ensure that daily data integrations meet established and committed SLAs
Identify opportunities to improve the overall performance of the data ecosystem
Identify opportunities to streamline and improve production support processes
Revamp KPIs to ensure continuous improvement
Ensure issue recovery and problem resolution is handled promptly per SLAs with our vendor partner.
Application management to include catalog management, DR exercise coordination, and DBA coordination, service account definition and revocation.
Manage vendor relationship with our production support services providers.
Issue and Problem resolution
Manage the intake of issues and expedient recovery where needed; adhering to established SLAs.
Ensure that root cause analysis is identified for both issues and problems.
Communicate proactively and clearly with key stakeholders at multiple levels, both technical and business.
Establish relationships with key senior level stakeholders to ensure trust and confidence.
Facilitation of new implementations
Govern and manage the Data and Analytic specific processes for getting new assets into production.
Assist delivery teams with optimizing the project / product implementation process including DevOps automation.
Prevent introduction of assets that pose a risk to the overall data ecosystem by recommending alternative designs, options, etc.
Tools Administration
Maintenance of tools environments/ installation for Ab Initio, Business Objects, Tableau, Alteryx, SAS, and Qlik/Attunity; including license distribution / management.
Accountable for optimization of these tools and contract management.
New Capability Delivery
Define and lead a yearly set of initiatives aimed at improving production support efficiency and effectiveness.
Manage the Data Delivering and Engineering leader who is accountable to deliver data asset enhancements, ensuring cross enterprise equity from a prioritization perspective.
Manage large scale events such as major upgrades of data and analytics tools.
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science / engineering, mathematics, or other relevant technical field with a minimum of 10 years IT application design and delivery experience.
If no degree, a minimum of 12 years of IT experience as stated above.
Experience with data integration, data warehousing and/or analytics solutions development.
Experience leading data asset production support.
Hiring preferences:
Strong infrastructure skills (servers, networks, middleware, databases).
Track record of increasing responsibilities leading people.
