Job purpose

Working as part of a team and utilizing resources to add value to clients, a staff helps to perform the detailed work of an engagement. They will participate in a range of forensic services including corporate investigations, compliance & anti-fraud consulting, commercial dispute resolution, Independent Review Organization services, and insurance claim services.

Duties and responsibilities

Commitment to Client Service

  • Develops effective working relationships with clients and firm associates
  • Works effectively in teams to provide quality service to clients
  • Gains a comprehensive understanding of client operations, processes and business; utilizes that knowledge throughout engagements
  • Communicates professionally (both written and verbal) with clients under the supervision of seniors
  • Understands client’s needs in context of the project or engagement
  • Knows, understands, and is able to clearly communicate Forensic service offerings
  • Accepts role and actively contributes to the successful completion of the engagement

Technical Skills

  • Develops strong understanding of accounting, compliance and regulatory frameworks, damage and lost profits theory, investigative techniques, and other relevant business skills in assisting clients
  • Develops the skills to effectively and efficiently review company processes and procedures to assess/ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Develops the skills to inspect accounting records and systems, including controls, for efficiency, effectiveness and use of accepted procedures to accurately record transactions, documents, etc.
  • Develops the skills to effectively and efficiently review, analyze and summarize historical financial and industry information, revenue and expense projections to form the basis of a damages or lost profits calculation
  • Learns to design and perform investigative procedures including substantive and analytical tests of account balances or classes of transactions
  • Demonstrates effective use of current technology and software

  • Builds and maintains positive relationships across the firm
  • Supports interns in professional development
  • Contributes and supports new ideas on internal processes and client engagements
  • Works with members of the engagement team to identify and resolve any client issues discovered during engagements
  • Supports firm efforts including recruiting, BT Foundation and other initiatives

  • Maintains open communication with engagement management regarding the progress of completion on projects
  • Actively builds a professional network and assists seniors, managers, directors, and partners in their new business development activities

  • Demonstrates positive attitude towards client and team and a willingness to learn new topics
  • Executes feedback to minimize repeated errors and apply new concepts

Qualifications include:

  • Undergraduate degree required, Master’s preferred
  • Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong work ethic and strong organization and problem-solving skills
  • Team player with a willingness to accept guidance and instruction
