COMPENSATION: Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement located on the DY website.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Serve as the chairperson of the evaluation TEAM, monitor and implement IEPs
  • Schedule all early education IEP meetings including initial evaluations, annual reviews and 3 year re-evaluations
  • Ensure that IEP TEAM completes all sections of the IEP with fidelity
  • Review completed IEP, update Esped, send all documentation to parents/guardians
  • Be familiar with all sub-separate programs and their students within the school
  • Complete all necessary DESE Indicator reports
  • Follow timelines with fidelity
  • Assist in diagnosis and placement of students suspected of having special educational needs
  • Attend case conferences on needs and placement of individual special needs students
  • Be responsible, in conjunction with the school staff, for reporting to parents
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and the community, or private agencies that provide special services for children
  • Assist with providing in-service training for the school staff
  • Develop and implement high quality programming for pre-school aged children
  • Support teachers with writing and implementing IEPs

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of MA Common Core Standards for Preschool and Early Education Curriculum
  • Minimum of a Master's in Special Education
  • Licensed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary education as a Special Education Teacher, PK-8
  • Knowledge of special education laws and Early Intervention transitions
  • Knowledge of community resources for parents and children preferred
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, families, school staff and general public. Employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Also: stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Lift or move 10 pounds
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
