Job Description:
Exercise Physiologist
Develops fitness and exercise programs that help patients recover from chronic diseases and improve cardiovascular function, body composition, and flexibility.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Advanced knowledge in exercise prescription - special populations, functional training and sport specific
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with patients and other healthcare professionals
- Ability to use initiative and independent judgment
- Ability to adapt to frequent changes in volume of work
- Ability to function effectively in a team environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, think and act independently with minimal supervision
- Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES
- Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology, Health Fitness
- Master's degree preferred
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) or must obtai
- American College of Sports Medicine Clinical Exercise Specialist Certification
- AAFAA, ACE or other nationally recognized Personal Training certification preferred
- American College of Sports Medicine Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification preferred
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum three (3) month internship in a comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program in addition to one (1) year of experience
- One or more years of relevant clinical experience in cardiac rehabilitation preferred
- Experience in arrhythmia detection and interpretation preferred

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
- Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs
- Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision
- Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects
- Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair
- May be required to lift up to 75 pounds
- Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids
- Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
- May require periodic use of personal computer
