Position Summary: *
Performs a daily Courier service for Paris Community Hospital, its satellite clinics and area nursing homes and perform maintenance functions as needed. This position must maintain a cooperative working relationship with patients, patient’s families, medical staff, interdepartmental and intradepartmental personnel.
Essential Functions:

• Demonstrates customer service principles to patients, clients and co-workers portraying the mission, vision, and values of the Paris Community Hospital. Recognizes teamwork is the foundation of a successful workplace.
• Maintains the patient file records in accordance with departmental systems.
• Follows the Laboratory Procedures for obtaining blood specimens, for laboratory testing.
• Picks up other specimens for testing from the nursing homes, and clinics, transports specimens to the laboratory for processing.
• Ensures that specimen requirements are met at the time of collection and maintains specimen integrity.
• Delivers supplies as necessary in order to keep materials on hand, taking inventory, restock laboratory supplies at nursing homes and clinics.
• Performs maintenance and cleaning on centrifuges at nursing homes and clinics.
• Contributes to the general maintenance functions and institutional needs. Attends regular department staff meetings and in-service training.
• Maintains compliance with laboratory, maintenance and hospital policies and procedures, as well as laboratory and maintenance safety procedures.

The responsibilities listed above are not all-inclusive; other activities may be required in support of the hospital’s goals and objectives. Responsibilities include cross-training for coverage of positions and other functions in the Clinic._

Position Requirements: *

• High school education or the equivalent
• Typing skills and experience with computer systems is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Maintains a valid driver’s license, any record of moving vehicle violations during the courier time, “on-duty” may be evaluated for safe driving.
