TITLE: Family & Community Engagement Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, or related field preferred.

• A valid Arizona Driver License.
• Must hold a valid Identity Verified Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Ability to read and write Spanish; excellent verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
• Working knowledge of Title I programs and goals. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Outstanding project management and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties, to employees, parents, and general public.
• Ability to communicate effectively with varied audiences using multiple mediums.
• Strong computer and technology skills; proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services

JOB GOAL: The Family & Community Engagement Coordinator develops and coordinates programs and activities that will encourage engagement of parents and community members into the school district. May be required to work evenings and/or weekends.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Effectively utilizes district technologies appropriate to the position and assumes responsibility for attending district training needed to successfully perform designated responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
• Act as a family and community engagement coach/liaison for the schools.
• Support schools and work with school site leaders, teachers, and parents.
• Track family engagement data for parent training workshops.
• Design and implement training workshops for parents, including summer opportunities.
• Organize and coordinate Parent Advisory Council and other parent meetings as needed including developing and preparing agendas for meetings.
• Support school with student recruitment efforts, as needed.
• Support events and activities connected to family engagement.
• Build and maintain relationships with parents, teachers, administrators, and community members, demonstrating G.R.E.A.T. customer service.
• Help develop, maintain, and encourage community partnerships and support schools with building effective ways to partner with community organizations.
• Coordinates support for district homeless students per McKinney-Vento requirements in cooperation with the Coordinator of Student Programs.
• Develops and distributes flyers and information about meetings.Arranges for transportation and refreshments, organizes nursery, organizes childcare to increase parent attendance of workshops and classes, and prepares all materials and workshops.
• Maintains work records of work activity.
• Explains school programs to parents.
• Confers with parents at meetings and at school to stimulate parental involvement.
• Assists Principals in coordinating parental involvement activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Twelve months, Full Time, Salary position under Column IV of the Classified Exempt Coordinator Salary Schedule. Employee benefits in accordance with Board policies. Position subject to federal funding availability.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of support staff.
