Southside Medical Center, Inc. (SMC) was founded in 1967 as the Atlanta Southside Comprehensive Health Center. We are a federally qualified health center (FQHC) that provides primary health care and related services to the medically underserved and uninsured.
SMC has 13 locations across the state of Georgia. Our main Center is located near the Georgia State Football Stadium in Fulton County. We also have two other locations in Fulton County: one at Dobbs Elementary School and the other in East Point. We have two locations in Dekalb County on Gresham Road and in Decatur, and three locations in Clayton County in Lovejoy, Riverdale and Forest Park. One location in Gwinnett County in Norcross, and a location in both Spalding and Butts Counties, Duluth and our newest location, Cleveland Immediate Care in East Point.

Position Summary

Reports to the Chief Medical Officer. Performs, but not limited to the following tasks:

• Conducts complete history and physical examination of patients coming into the center, including tests to check vision and hearing.
• Discusses patients’ general condition with parents of child examined.
• Prepares reports covering specific information obtained.
• Work with professionals and others including nurses, midlevel practitioners, social workers, clinic and medical assistants as part of a team approach to meet the inter-related needs of families and individuals under care.
• Provides assistance and consultative services to other midlevel practitioners as required on difficult or problem cases to ascertain the best methodology to be employed.
• Teaches and trains staff, family and individuals on specific problems as well as the preventative aspects of healthful living, participates in team conferences as part of an innovative and educational program.
• Performs in accordance with his higher level of training in such fields as Newborn care, Childhood illnesses, Adolescent Medicine, Adult Medicine, and Prenatal care.
• Monitors the quantity and quality of patient care of the RN.
• Participates in ensuring quality medical care is given to patients by attending, participating in quality assurance, departmental and provider meetings.
• Provides on-call coverage for Health Center patients on a rotational basis, must be available at all times when servicing as the on-call physician.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

M.D. degree with specialization and residency in Family Practice. One (1) year experience in Health Care setting, preferably board certified. Must hold current Georgia license.
