Location: 545 1st Avenue North, St. Petersburg, FL 33701
Schedule:8:00am - 5:00 pm; 8:15am-5:15 pm
The Clerk of the Circuit Court is looking for new members to join our team as part of one of the finest organizations in Pinellas County. Working independently and accurately, completes a variety of complex financial duties, performs full balancing services and intakes and processes court documents, passports, recording, marriage licenses, civil, probate, and traffic. Handles difficult customer service problems.

Essential Job Functions
- Performs cashiering work by entering transactions into computerized registers, receiving monies, making change and balancing the register daily. Reconciles monies and computer data and prepares case reports and records
- Performs specific court related functions such as calendaring Simplified and Uncontested Dissolution of Marriage cases, processing Domestic, Repeat, Dating and Sexual Violence Injunctions, attend court sessions for Simplified and uncontested Dissolutions as well as Domestic Violence Return Hearings. Receives and accepts for filing various legal papers.
- Intake civil, probate, recording, child support payments, traffic payments, passport applications, marriage licenses and perform marriage ceremonies.
- Provides accurate, clear and concise information to internal and external customers, attorneys, defendants and the general public on the telephone and in person.
- Pay jurors for jury service from cash fund.
- Additional duties include refunds, corrections, working computer generated reports and providing excellent customer service.
- Performs related work as assigned or required.
Position Specific Requirements
- 2 years of experience in cashiering or accounting and practical skills in the use of computer equipment; or
- An Associates or higher-level degree; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Detailed oriented.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of the principles of cashiering, governmental accounting and record keeping procedures pertinent to area of assignment.
- Knowledge of the Florida Statutes, Rules of Court and regulations pertinent to area of assignment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical/Mental Demands
The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
- Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
- Handling: Picking, holding, or otherwise working, primarily with the whole hand.
- Visual ability: Sufficient to effectively operate office equipment including copier, computer, etc.; and to read and write reports, correspondence, instructions, etc.
- Hearing ability: Sufficient to hold a conversation with other individuals both in person and over a telephone; and to hear recording on transcription device.
- Speaking ability: Sufficient to communicate effectively with other individuals in person and over a telephone.
- Mental acuity: Ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes.
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Repetitive motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
- Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
