Essential Functions:

  • Develop, plan, and execute fitness, wellness and recreational programming opportunities that align with the organization’s ENGAGE wellness philosophy while ensuring diversity of offerings, increasing participation, and meeting the needs of current and future residents.
  • Orients residents, future residents, and staff to the gym, pool, and fitness center ensuring all users are abiding by stated policies and procedures. Assigns all users a fitness center key fob.
  • Ensures attendance collection system is properly maintained and attendance collected for all fitness related programs.
  • Offers and completes a bi-annual Senior Fit Test. Utilizes results to develop an action plan to improve individual wellness.
  • Ensures resident safety by demonstrating proper technique in class or when using equipment, includes appropriate use and settings.
  • Creates, distributes, and maintains monthly fitness programming calendar, fitness newsletter, and wellness/fitness-related schedules, records, and reports.
  • Responsible for the development, oversight, and compliance of the fitness budget. Successfully manages the budget for an entire fiscal year striving to achieve better than planned results, adapting to changing circumstances, and being able to explain variances timely to direct supervisor.
  • Performs daily walk-throughs of the Fitness Center ensuring tidiness and cleanliness. Also, weekly, and monthly maintenance inspections of all indoor/outdoor equipment and facilities to ensure a clean and safe environment. In addition to reporting all safety concerns identified during inspections.
  • Performs non-mechanical maintenance of the pool including cleaning railings and hosing down pool deck. Maintains records all performed maintenance.
  • Serves as the staff liaison for the Fitness Advisory Committee.
  • Serves as a staff liaison to ensure all in-house and outside entertainers have the required set up and technical support needed for their program.
  • Responsible for the utilization and upkeep of all department systems utilized for program communication including but not limited to in-house TV system and Resident Portal as it relates to fitness programming.
  • Facilitates the monthly Residential Living Fall Committee by preparing meeting agenda, minutes, and hosting the meeting.
  • Actively serves as a member of the Residential Living Scorecard, Wellness Team (ENGAGE), and other committees as assigned.
  • Attentively listens to residents, future residents, families, guests, and employee requests, comments, and concerns. In addition to reporting those concerns as appropriate to supervisor.
  • Promote and manage Personal One-on-One Training sessions.
  • Maintain communication with outside instructors to be sure classes are being run properly during designated time.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This position works a flexible schedule when required to ensure programming options for residents throughout the day and seven days a week (i.e., working evenings, weekends, a split shift).

Travel:

  • Some travel is required for this position.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline or a combination of education and significant experience (Required)
  • 1-3 years experience working with senior adults (Preferred)
  • Demonstrates ability to relate to senior adults
  • Demonstrated expertise in interpersonal communication and presentation skills, verbal and written
  • Comfortable and agile working with technology; Proficient in MS Office and other applications
  • Ability to record health history and assess fitness level in order to prescribe exercise program
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work independently

Certification and Licensure Requirements:

  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record Check
  • ACSM Exercise Specialist (Preferred)
  • Fitness/Aquatic Certification (Preferred)
  • Basic First Aid (Required)
  • CPR CERTIFICATION (Required)
