Job description

Powhatan is seeking a supportive, engaged and enthusiastic fourth grade homeroom teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. The successful candidate will have a thorough background in classroom instruction, experience using a variety of assessment techniques, strong instructional and classroom-management skills and experience collaborating closely with colleagues and parents in support of a proactive, student-centered, positive learning environment. Powhatan strives to support the whole child, set students up for success, and use language and strategies from the Responsive Classroom model to teach and respond to student behavior. Candidates should have a related degree, substantial elementary classroom teaching experience, and a desire to create a joyful classroom community. We are eager to consider candidates from traditionally underrepresented groups.
