General Manager - Brickhouse Inn
We are looking for an experienced General Manager to oversee the successful day-to-day operation of our beautiful 5-star Bed & Breakfast in the heart of historic Gettysburg, the Brickhouse Inn Bed & Breakfast. The Brickhouse Inn complete with original wood floors circa 1898 and authentic Victorian styling enraptures all who stay within her historic walls. The classical lodging has earned over 2,000+ five-star reviews on TripAdvisor along with their Certificate of Excellence and Hall of Fame Designation.
Job Description
The ideal candidate for this role will have a background in hospitality or hotel management, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and strong leadership abilities. They should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and have a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
General Manager Skills and Expertise:
- Manage daily hotel operations and provide exceptional customer service.
- Managing the staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Engage with guests to resolve questions, concerns or issues.
- Handle email inquiries from guests in a timely manner by providing a helpful reply in less than 24 hours
- Oversee the maintenance, upkeep, and safe efficient operation of the property by interfacing with contractors when necessary
- Encourage reviews among guests, and engage guests where possible
- Manage budgets and communicate with staff to order needed supplies and schedule contract services.
- Ensure the successful operations of breakfast, hospitality, tours.
- Ensure proper maintenance and safe operation of hot tub for guest use, and ensure staff performs these functions when you are not present
- Manage our content (writing, photos) on reservation systems and third party reservation systems for accuracy and completeness
- Manage kitchen staff and ensure breakfast is successfully prepared and served.
- Greet guests, explain our tours and offerings, make them feel welcome and comfortable, and help them to make reservations
- Assist guests in purchasing items from the gift shop
- Coordinate with back office staff and management from time to time
- Inspect the grounds, public areas and guest rooms for appearance and cleanliness to include cleaning and replacing linen for new guests, and organizing common areas.
- Ensure company standards for housekeeping, décor and guest services are met daily.
- Lead and manage daytime and evening tours: city history tours, food tours, and ghost tours.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, and implementing new initiatives as needed to improve the overall performance.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of management experience in the hospitality field
- Outgoing, positive attitude, social
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Available from 8am to 2pm, and for weekend shifts
- Available to respond to guest issues that may arise unexpectedly
- Proficiency with technology and using mobile applications
- Preferred experience in housekeeping, food preparation, and food prep certification
- Retail experience preferred
- Public speaking experience preferred
- Tour guide experience preferred
