The greenhouse facilities for Ball Horticultural Company are home to a wide range of plant trials and grow outs. Projects span anything from research and culture trials to marketing and display programs. The greenhouses are also responsible for a vast stock program that services many of our facilities around the world. Grower technicians support all level of growers in the facilities by helping them accomplish daily greenhouse tasks that make these trials possible. Grower technicians are needed on a full-time schedule during the busy season, typically January through July.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Harvesting, pinching, transplanting and moving plants around the greenhouse and other outside growing facilities on the property. These tasks help start and maintain the greenhouse programs.
• Help maintain a clean greenhouse facility by performing daily cleaning and sanitation tasks such as sweeping, mopping, taking out trash and wiping down stations which keeps a clean greenhouse environment is vital to maintaining our facilities.
• Perform non plant related greenhouse tasks such as filling pots, mixing fertilizer and sanitizing tools. This is needed to start and maintain the programs in the greenhouse.
• Willingness to learn and be part of a team-oriented environment
• Punctual and respectful of work hours
• Flexible with performing other tasks as assigned depending on the daily operations

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

• Past gardening or greenhouse experience a plus, but not required. Any interest in working with plant is desired
• High School Diploma or GED is required
• Ability to use fine motor skills to complete intricate tasks
• Ability to sit/stand/bend for long periods of time
• Ability to work as a team member to accomplish large tasks
• Ability to work in an environment that ranges from cool to hot, depending on the time of the year and whether tasks are being performed inside a greenhouse or out in the field
