HEAD COOK
FULL TIME – 1st or 2nd SHIFT
$1,000 SIGN-ON/RETENTION BONUS!
The Lutheran Home at Johnstown, a skilled nursing, personal care, and independent living community, is actively seeking candidates for Head Cook positions. This position will ensure that quality food service is provided at all times. This is a supervisory position that reports to the Dining Services Manager. The hours and days of work vary as needed.
The Lutheran Home at Johnstown is offering a $1,000 sign-on bonus to Head Cooks. Available positions may change throughout the course of the promotion. Occasional, or casual, positions do not qualify. Bonuses will be paid in increments over a specified period of time.
Responsibilities:
- Review menus prior to preparation of food.
- Inspect special diet trays to assure they are correct.
- Coordinate dietary service with other departments as necessary.
- Assure that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
- Assist in establishing food service production line, etc., to assure that meals are prepared on time.
- Process diet changes and new diets as received from nursing services with the dietary instruction slips.
- Prepare meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance including therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus.
- Assist in serving meals as necessary and on a timely basis.
- Make only authorized food substitutions.
- Assist in food preparation for special meals for parties, etc.
- Functions as the go to person in the absence of the Dining Services Manager and confirms that all duties and assignments are completed by the team during shift.
- Trains/mentors new staff.
- Orders supplies, manages invoicing, and compiles inventory.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities; must be knowledgeable of dietary procedures as well as related laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to nursing home operations.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 50 lbs.
